History of Microwave Radiometry in RES

In 1997 specialist of RES under the direction of Alexander V. Vaisblat  developed a test sample of the RTM-01-RES microwave radiometer. Company strategy was to introduce RTM-01-RES in medicine practice.

It should be noted that medical radiometers had not been used widely in medicine practice, in spite that there were many attempts to use it in Russia and abroad. Our first steps showed that there was a considerable distance between development of a test sample and introduction of new diagnostic methods in medicine practice. For this purpose we had to solve the following problems:

- develop and test new diagnostic methods;
- train medical personnel;
- practically use RTM-01-RES in hospitals;
- design software;
- organize serial production of the device and get certificates and licences ;
- support the diagnostic systems;
- develop new device models ;
- publish education and advertising materials.

Only considering all these parameters we could introduce a new method in medicine practice.

We began to work with physicians, develop medical methods, test our device and now RES performs all functions mentioned above including training medical personnel and publication of education materials as well as servicing RTM-01-RES diagnostic systems.

Our experience of working in hospitals helps us to understand physicians better, realize their problems, what device they need. For the last several years we have significantly improved our system and the present model much differ from the first one.

Microwave Radiometry can be used for the detection of different diseases, however we decided to demonstrate its ability to diagnose breast diseases, develop a medical method and conducted clinical trials that would show efficiency of the new method. For three years we have conducted clinical trials at the leader Moscow oncological centers.

Clinical trials conducted in over 1000 patients have shown that breast cancer detective ability of microwave radiometry is 90%.

At present the RTM-01-RES radiometers are used at many leader oncological centers in Russia and other countries, so we can say that the new diagnostic method has been responded by medical specialists contentedly.

Foreign physicians are greatly interested in medical radiometry as there are not similar methods for the earlier detection of diseases in other countries. Several times we have demonstrated our device in the USA, England, Germany, South Korea, Australia. In England a medical center, where the method providing RTM-01-RES is used, has been established. This center will be a base of promoting RTM-01-RES in Europe. In Slovenia a State Program on using microwave radiometry for the detection of ovary cancer has been assumed.

We would like to thank our partners who contributed significantly to promoting microwave radiometry: Coloyaro-2000, Ltd., RTM-MED, Ltd., MO-GY d.o.o., R. Avakian, V.P. Nosov, M. Teppone, Y. Shlepnev, I. Zrimzek, N. Klepikov, O. Bichkov.

Also we thank doctors for their assistance with developing microwave radiometry: Prof. L.M. Burdina, Y.G. Pinhosrvich  M.D., N.V. Bogdanova M.D., Prof. I.L. Mogilevskiy, Prof. V.A. Hailenko, Prof. A.I. Sdviznikov,  A.F. Kartasheva  M.D.,  V.A. Kanevtsov  M.D.

At the Showroom of inventions and new technologies in Geneva lasted from 6 April till 10 April 2005 Slovenian medics together with Russian scientists (Ivan Zrimzek “MOGY” and Sergey Vesnin “RES Ltd”) presented a method for early detection of mastopathies (radiothermometry) based on the noninvasive measuring of interval tissues' temperature.

At the present time the diagnostics of mastopathies is one of the actual problem that's why the need to create new techniques for diagnosing and monitoring breasts condition isn't in doubt.
